You have a SmitFraud infection and perhaps one of the latest Vundo infections. Before we do anything however, it is important that you navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administration\Desktop\Applications\HijackThis.exe
and rename the HijackThis.exe file to "Analyze.exe" rerun the application and post THAT log back here in this thread. Please DO NOT rename the Analyze.exe file back to HijackThis.exe until we see that your system is cleaned. Thanks!

I see Vundo WAS hiding on the syste. Let's get started. First, click start-->control panel-->add/remove programs
Scroll down the list and see if you can locate a program named NewDotNet. Click Remove if located and reboot when the uninstall completes.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files,
click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing
Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer,
click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt in your next reply.


Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not
remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.


Next, I am going to give you two sets of instructions...both relating to the Smitfraud infection that you have. The first set of instructions will cause the application to find the bad files. The second set will allow the application to delete the bad files it found.

With each set there is a log generated. It is important that you remember to post both logs in your next reply. You must perform these steps exactly as presented and cannot skip a step. The application will delete nothing unless you first allow it to find the bad files...which is why you must follow these instructions exactly as presented:

Set #1

Please download:
SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press" Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note :
process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.


Set#2
You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, reboot the computer into Safemode.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press" Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into your Normal Windows user mode.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please download the KILLBOX, extract it to your desktop. DO NOTHING WITH IT YET.

Download Ewido anti-spyware to your desktop.
This is a 30 day free trial. At the end of the 30-day trial period the full version features (active guard, automatic updates...) will be deactivated and the program will become a feature-limited freeware version...You can still keep it and use it for "On Demand" scanning.

• Double click the icon on the desktop to launch the set up program.
• Select Change state to inactivate "Resident Shield" and "Automatic Updates". Right click on ewido in the system tray and uncheck "Start with Windows".
• Once the setup is complete you will need to update the definition files.
• On the main screen select the icon Update then click the Start Update button.
• The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
• Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
• Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine.
• Under Reports
• Select Automatically generate report after every scan
• Un-Select Only if threats were found

Close ewido anti-spyware.

Please boot into Safe mode:

Restart the computer and immediately begin tapping the F8 key (or F5 on some Dell machines).
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the Enter key. Once in safe mode, continue with the instructions below:

• Launch ewido anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
• Select the Scanner icon at the top, then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
• ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take some time.
• When prompted of an infection, please select Apply all actions

Once the scan is complete do the following:

• Next select the Reports icon at the top.
• Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to your Desktop.

Now close ewido anti-spyware.

Open killbox.exe.

First click on Tools>Delete Temp Files.
A box will open with a list of all user profiles.

Check the following boxes at a minimum for each profile by clicking on the drop down and checking the boxes that are enabled. Some will not apply and those boxes will not be available to check. Make sure you do this for all the profiles listed.

Temporary Internet Files
Temp Files
XP Prefetch

If you want to clean your cookies, history, and list of recent files run you may check those boxes as well.

Then, click on the Button titled "Delete Selected Temp Files".
Exit by clicking the Button titled "Exit(Save Settings)".

Once back into the main killbox program, check the box:

Delete on Reboot

Highlight all the entries below and then copy them.

Then in killbox click File>>Paste from Clipboard

At this point the "All Files" button should be enabled so you can click it.

Then click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes.

A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No for now.
Note: Killbox will let you know if a file does not exist.

If you have any issues with this method you can copy and paste the lines one at a time into the killbox top box. Then click the "Single File" button. Then click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes. A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No until you've completed the instructions below.

Please run HijackThis again and check the following:

Now please close all windows except for the HijackThis application (Analyze.exe) then click Fix Checked.
Reboot the computer back to your normal user mode.


You Java application is out of date.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components

1. Close any open programs you may have running, especially your web
browser.

2. Click Start-->Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs.
For those just reading this thread:
Depending on your OS, you may have to click Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs.

3. Click once on any item listing Java Runtime Environment in the name (to highlight it) then click the "Remove" or "Change/Remove" button.
Not every version of Java will begin with "Java" so be sure to read each entry in the list.
Repeat step 3 as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
**If you are asked to reboot at any point during the uninstallations, please do so. Then go back to Add/Remove and continue with the rest of the removals...when finished uninstalling all of them, reboot the computer.

4. Navigate to and delete:

• C:\Program Files\ Java =this folder if found

5. Then go to this page.
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications"and click the "Download" button to the right.

6. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement" the page will refresh and click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language. Save it to your desktop.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_08-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Download LSPFix from here or here.
1. Disconnect from the Internet, go to the LSPfix file and extract/unzip LSP-Fix into its own folder C:\lspfix>.
2. Open the lspfix folder and double-click on LSPFix.exe to start the program.
3. Check the " I know what I am doing" checkbox.
4. Select ( highlight) all instances of
newdotnet7_22.dll
in the left column under " Keep".
5. Click the arrow >> so it goes over to the right column under " Remove".
6. Click " Finish" and LSPfix will remove references to the file and restore the chain numbers.

Reboot again and post back a fresh HijackThis log, the logs from your Vundo, and SmitFraud scans, and the Ewido scan log. Thanks!

Note: I accidentally restarted my computer before running Hijack This in safemode after Killbox, will I have to do this all again? Because it seems like I still have the popup upon logging in, telling me I have problems with Windows Explorer such as missing registries at which point it takes me to a WinFix (I believe) site, despite the fact it is most obviously fake...

Not all of it...but some of it you will. Go back to the VundoFix tool instructions and run the tool again. Also, please go over the Ewido configuration instructions to make sure you have Ewido set up exactly as recommended. The Ewido scan log you posted showed Ewido took no action. It may be because you missed a step.

Please run the VundoFix tool again. After reboot, please boot the computer back to safe mode and run the Ewido scan again. While in Safe mode, run the HijackThis scan again and check the boxes I listed in my last post.

Post back the VundoFix log, the Ewido scan log and a new HijackThis log.
