Please try to uncheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion" option in Ad-Aware Configuration (Tweak button -> Cleaning Engine -> Always try to unload modules before deletion). Enable it back after several scans and restarts.
If it doesn’t help, please update your antivirus application, and run a full system scan. You can also scan online:
http://www.fixyourwindows.com/windowsxpsolutions.htm#OnlineVirusScans
Then get a Spybot S&D and scan on Safe Mode:
http://tinyurl.com/pfca
Now, try scanning with Ad-Aware.
Please see the second link below for additional spyware-related information.
I had a similar problem on one of my computers a few months back. I went ahead and removed the program using the add/remove feature in Win XP. Then I went ahead and found another download site on the list published by LAVASOFT and it worked perfectly the first time after it was downloaded and installed. Just a thought for you. The experts in this forum are people like Mike and Denny...:smileyhappy:
Note: I was pretty certain that this machine had no other problems on it when I did the install.

If you can keep your system up long enough, try this scan and see if it turns anything up...
Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:
1. Click " Free Online Scan".
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".
It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:
1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".
When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.
Mike.
