Problem with SAS updates? - *FIXED*

Today (2/17/12) I had problems trying to download the SAS definition update on two separate machines. In both cases, the SAS updater downloaded the update file multiple times (twice on one machine, 10 times on the other)... each time seemingly successful (as evidenced by a green check-mark)... but ultimately, generating a RED: Definitions Update ERROR - FAILED.

(Downloading the separate Definition Installer program worked.)

Since it happened on two separate systems, I don't think it's just a "quirk".

Anyone else have a similar experience? --- Or is it working for you??

Cross-posting at the SAS forums:   http://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/6764-problem-with-updates/

EDIT: and several people have responded there, confirming their experience matches mine.  So there definitely is an issue.

Hernan,

I just tried again, and the problem continues for me.   On this machine, the last time I tried to update SAS was a week ago, giving me database 8225.   (On my other machine, I believe I had 8250.)

I believe it's trying to load 8258... maybe that specifically is the problem???   As of this moment, 4 other user have replied at the SAS forum confirming what happened to me.

"The only thing I have noticed is that SAS UI always shows one version behind".   I've never notice that before.

David.

No problems here. Two updates. Data version 8257 ( this morning ) and dv 8258. The only thing I have noticed is that SAS UI always shows one version behind. I just update to 8258 to see if I had problems with it, but it shows dv 8257.:emotion-7:

OK. Tried to get 8259, but SAS went through two updates cycles with a big FAILED to update at the end. Tried a second time and it was successful, but now SAS UI shows 8258.

Just try a third time and SAS says no updates.

A moderator ("SAS Customer Service") replied at the SAS forum that "The core definitions on the website are 8259 currently but it will display as 8258 in the program, because one of the releases last night didn't deploy correctly".   So that may answer the question about SAS displaying things "one number behind".   But they also alleged the update problem had now been fixed.

As you just experienced, something is still wrong --- the FAILED to update you received (on your first try).

I just tried again.   Still going through 9 or 10 update cycles, before getting the FAILED report.

EDIT:   Hernan, I see you've "joined" the thread at SAS, so you already knew this...
