How's your PC running now?

Please perform an Ewido Online Malware Scan

  • When a dialog box appears asking you if you would like to download and install the ewido anti-spyware online scanner please click Yes to allow the download.
  • Click on Start Scan.
  • after the scan completes i twill produce a log for you, copy and paste the results of that scan as a reply to this thread
  • If any infections are found, (After you save the logfile), Click on Remove Infections.

You may need to check your active - X settings in IE.

Let's try another online scan

Run an online virus scan called Kaspersky from HERE.
  • 1. Click on " Kaspersky Online Scanner"
    2. A new smaller window will pop up. Press on " Accept". After reading the contents.
    3. Now Kaspersky will update the anti-virus database. Let it run.
    4. Click on " Next"->>" Scan Settings", and make sure the database is set to " extended". And check both the scan options. Then click OK.
    5. Then click on " My Computer". And the scan will start.
    6. When the scan is complete Select "Save error report as"
Then in the file name just type in kaspersky
Under "save as type" select text .txt
    Save it to your Desktop.

Copy and post the results of the Kaspersky Online scan

==========

Note: For IE7 uers. You may get returned to a window without the Accept/Decline buttons after allowing the ActiveX control. The buttons are there - you just can't see them! Click on the zoom button (bottom, right of the window) and change it from 100% to 75%. You should now see the buttons. Reset to 100% once the license has been accepted.

that took 2 hours and 13 minutes(is that normal?)

It depends upon the Number of items scanned. "Total number of scanned objects: 195596"

1. Rerun Killbox
  • At the main window Select Tools ->> Delete Temp Files
At the next window uncheck XP Prefetch
    Leave the other boxes checked
Select " Delete Selected Temp Files"
Allow the tool to run. When it is finished (You will know that it is finished because the checks will disappear from the location boxes)
    Select " Exit"
Then Select " Exit" again to close Killbox

2. We need to empty the Java Cache

Using Windows explorer
Locate and empty the following Folder
  • C:\Documents and Settings\William\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache

Locate and Delete the following files
  • C:\Documents and Settings\William\Desktop\limewire\[Full] star wars episode 1 racer with Bonus.zip
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\popcaploader.dll

Close windows explorer

It would seem that your infection came from Limewire. P2P file sharing programs like this one are one of the most common ways that PC's become infected. I would recommend that you Uninstall it through Add or Remove programs.

Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post one more Hijackthis log

Sorry for the delay.

The pop up you are refering too is a new one one me, let's look at a couple of things

Re Run Hijackthis
  • At the Main window select " Open the misc tool section"
Then select " Open uninstall manager"
Then " save list" and save it to your desktop

Copy and paste that list as a reply to this thread

well i have some great news. No more pop up problems. I was playing a subscription mmo and i had problems where the screen would go black. So i decided the only sure way to make sure its not the video card was to re boot and hope everything would work again. Well i did a full re install and all the virus's and virus related problems are gone. Now it seems my video card is broken, which is a whole other topic. So thanks for all your help. Do you still want me to run a hijack this log?
