I'm at work now, so don't have the details in front of me, but I can post what I did to turn the software off. It seems to work. I will try to get to it this evening. In loose terms, I looked through the startup items (using msconfig) and the services (using the services program under administrative tasks in the control panels) to disable startup items/services related to creative labs stuff. I didn't need to delete anything. When those items were no longer started, the directories 'clclean.001.****' and the subitem which registers as a trojan were no longer created/present. I'll post a blow by blow description later.
