Reinstalling Norton ???

I happened to notice one day that my Norton Antivirus (2005) was not loading on startup. When I did a status check I got error messages saying that I needed to reinstall Norton. When I looked up the instructions, it seems like you need a degree in computer science to figure it out!! :smileymad:

This may be a dumb question but, what would happen if I just bought and installed another subscription??

i would say you need to uninstall it for add/remove in the control panel then make sure the directory is gone and install it again.

Is there any other way? I'm trying to avoid navigating 17 pages of confusing instructions. I will probably end up messing up my whole computer. :smileysad:

you might try a restore point around the time it happened.

Howdy
I used to be a big fan of Norton's untill I got 2005, & then I along with many others, had endless probs & headaches with it.  2005 is a buggy bloated piece of garbage - IMHO - I now use Zonealarm  Pro with their anti virus, which is by Computer Assoc.  ZA has a much smaller foot print on your system, with no issues with Word, or Word Perfect. I do not remember which one had a problem with Nortons,  & I have both on my system.
Any way,  have you been here ?

I had a really rough time getting Nortons off my system, some where at the end of those links, is a remove tool , that I ended up using.
I would give you a link to that but I just took it out of my favorities, & I also do not remember how to spell it.
Edit- just found it on Nortons site.
