but its prompting me with a windows username and passowrd just before it loads windows, like what i do before logging into normal windows BUT this isnt allowing me and its saying EACH TIME I ENTER PASSOWORD,
what password is this asking?
I always log in with a username and password.
"Das system Konnte Sie nicht anmelden Uberprufen Sie benutzermen und domane, und geben sie Ihr kenwort erneut ein. Bei Kennwortern wird die GROB-/Kleinsschreibung beachtet stellen sie sicher, class die FESTSTELLTASTE nicht versehentlich aktiviert ist.
I'm asking around for info on a German Win 2K system. Let's try this..
At the logon prompt, click the Options button (should be the one on the right), which will show a third field where either the domain or Local Computer can be selected.
It looks as if maybe you have selected the domain?
Try the local computer. If the password is blank, skip it. If not, try your password again.
The Safemode option should be the first option.
I shall try this now, I am in the local library so I have to keep checking the forums, so if i return in delay please bare with me.
Ok - also, apologies, I will only ask you for advice to sort my problem, and you have been so good thus far and i know you can sort this for me.
this is the biggest and worst problem i have ever had on a DELL machine latitude, other than the problem my nephew had with his fugitsu were he forgot his wondows passowrd, and i purchase off EBAY a linux password finder, and that sorted that problem so quickly for £2.00

Howdy,
I don't have anything running in German right now but if I remember correctly it is
"Abgesicherten Modus"
for safe mode.

Let's try this:
After you hit F8, please list the choices that you see. Maybe we can get them translated.
