runtime error...help!!!

I am running windows XP pro and keep getting this annoying error message pop up every few seconds/minutes and it keeps coming back no matter how many times I close the window.

The error message is this

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library"

The actual body of the pop up doesn´t contain anything at all except a portion of what was running behind it if anything (EG O/Express or whatever).  If nothing running behind then I just get a blank window which I can move around or close using the button on the lower tool bar.

Have tried Norton anti virus, Adaware 6  to no avail.

Any ideas???

archfiend,

Thanks for your reply...

there doesn´t seem to be any particular program or combination of programs that sets it off...it simply appears about every five minutes regardless.  No specific that I can see... all i get is a button at the bottom of my screen which says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" and a small blank window on the desktop which says nothing.  Is there anyway I can access more information about the specifics???? (right clicking on the button only gives me the option to move or close)

Not sure if any programs running in the background might have something to do with it but certainly it doesn´t seem to make any difference what I am running on the desktop.

Cheers
