Safer Browser?
I don't know where this "Safer Browser" pest came from, or how it installed itself on my Win 7. Suffice it to say that it insinuated itself on my system without my consent, and that my MBAM Premium protection did not prevent its installation. Safer Browser hijacked my IE home page to Bing.com, so Microsoft is complicit somehow.
I ran an on-demand MBAM scan, which detected and quarantined several hundred "Safer Browser" files as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). I'm not sure where to go from here. All my weblink/desktop shortcuts were converted to this "Safer Browser" icon, which no longer works.
Even accessing this Dell Forum has been a problem. I'm talking about the account I've used without problem for almost 20 years. And Dell Phone help was absolutely useless. Sorry, Dell, that you were of no use whatsoever. All I can say after a particularly tough week is "Illegitimi non carborundum".

It gets worse.
All of my desktop shortcuts no longer work, and tell me "Application not found".
It appears that my system is badly compromised for the first time in many years. I'm off to SpywareHammer to hopefully fix this.

Sorry to hear this too. :emotion-41:
Is this somehow related to the crashes you suffered last week?
Sure it's actually going to Bing or is it some malware site disguised to look like Bing? :emotion-3:

Ron, I've had a week from Hades, in spades. (How is that for a mixed metaphor?) But I'm slowly recovering.
I'm sure my crashes and other problems are related, just not sure how. As that guy on NCIS always says "I don't believe in coincidences!"
Anyways, I was able to restore my home page from Bing (it looked like Bing, walked like Bing, and quacked like Bing. But it is gone now, so I guess the question is moot).
