Quick question about this patch. I read about it earlier and when I got to my computer I ran Windows update which scanned my computer and did not come up with this patch. I am running XP PRo on a Dell 4550. What gives? SHould I download from your link anyway? I am not sure what 64 bit version refers to.

Thanks for a reply.

The link points to a Microsoft site. The issue was reported as part of their monthly security advisories.

The Dell 4550 isn't a 64-bit machine.

You'll need to determine whether the vulnerability discussed in the article applies to your situation.

For Windows 2000, the update that corrects the ASN.1 vulnerability is listed as a critical update (KB828028) by Windows Update as of now (1643 PST 2/10/04)

I want to emphasize that neither of the links posted point to sites I'm involved with or operate. They point to a Microsoft site and to the US Government's Cyber Alert system's site.

Thanks for the response. When I actually READ the alert, it did identify my OS. I revisited Windows Update later, ran the scan, and there it was. I downloaded and installed.

Thanks again.
