Serious Bug Problem/ IEDefender-Trojans

Question

Ok so i was getting the IEDefender messeges. I ran norton and spysweeper. It said it found and fixed two trojans and many cookies. Still keep getting the messege about IEDefender. So i went to tools in my bar on internet explorer, then to manage add ons, enable or disable add ons, and disabled something called BetaDivX. My pop up stopped. Tho i am concerned that just stopped the pop up and it isnt 'gone'. I am not computer savy at all i dont know what to do. Here is my log. Although you disabled the problem, it's not gone.
I am reviewing your log.
In the meantime, you can help me by doing the following:

* Please let me know if you have posted this log on another forum.

* If you are using any cracked software, please remove it.
Definition of cracked software:

* If you are using any P2P (file sharing) programs, please remove them before we clean your computer.
The nature of such software and the high incidence of malware in files downloaded with them are counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state.

* If this computer belongs to someone else, do you have authority to apply the fixes we will use?

* Have you already fixed entries using HijackThis? If so, please restore all the backups and then post another log. Please do not do anything else until you get further instructions.

* After we begin working, please print or copy all instructions to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out procedures.
Please follow all instructions in sequence.

* If your replies do not fit in one post while we are handling your issue, please reply to yourself until all text is submitted. It may take several posts.

* Before we start working, we'll need to disable Windows Defender and SpySweeper:
* Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
* Click on Tools, General Settings
* Under Real-time protection options, deselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
* Click Save

To disable SpySweeper:
Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck "automatically restore default without notification".
Exit the program.
[After your system is fully cleaned re-enable Spysweeper using the same steps but this time reverse them.]

It is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

*i have not posted this on any other forum *no cracked software *no P2P programs *this computer belongs to me *i havnt done anything other than what i put in my original post...then followed the instructions to post my log and i just completed disabling spysweeper and defender. I did have to dig around a little bit as your instructions are different than what my computer shows. i am using a new dell with vista maybe thats why mine was a tad bit different. on spysweeper i unchecked all options under shields and undid the load at windows start up. on defender i went to options and unchecked the automatically scan my computer at so and so time. did i do that right?

Ok i rebooted into safe mode, clicked start, search....no tools option anywhere in my search window. I see a box that i can check to include hidden, files and folders and such...but no tools option. Is it different because i have vista? will checking this box be what you needed me to do?

Reboot into Safemode:
Turn on the computer.
Immediately begin tapping the F8 key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the Enter key.

Configure to show all files/folders:
Go to Start>Search and at the top select Tools>Folder Options
Select the View tab
Display the contents of system folders
Show hidden files and folders
Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files
Click on Apply.
Next go to the side of the Search box and select All files and folders. Go down to More advanced options.
Be sure the first three boxes are selected:
Search System folders
Search Hidden Files and folders
Search SubFolders

Please launch HijackThis and place a checkmark next to the following:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix Checked".
Close HijackThis.

While still in Safemode, see if this file still exists, and if it does, delete it:
C:\Windows\System32\ IR9V0_QCX.dll

It should be gone, but we're just checking.

After that, reboot normally.

Rehide files:
Start>Search and at the top select Tools>Folder Options
Select the View tab
Display the contents of system folders
Show hidden files and folders
Check: Hide protected operating system files
Click on Apply.

Please perform a BitDefender Online Virus and Malware Scan
(Do not install Bitdefender trial anti-virus software. Simply run the online scan.)

Click on I Agree.
An ActiveX warning box will appear, click on Install.
Under Select What You Want To Check For Viruses.
Please Check My Computer and Click Ok
Now Click On Click Here To Scan
Next, Click on Click here to export the scan report
Save it to your Desktop.
In your next reply, please include the Bitdefender log and a fresh Hijackthis log.

Yes, it's probably because it's Vista.
1. Click the round blue Start in the left corner
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Folder Options
4. Click the View tab
5. Click Show hidden files and folders
6. Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
7. Click OK

Does that do it?

Just reverse those instructions to rehide.

Skip that online scan. It may not want to work with Vista.

In safemode, launch HijackThis and place a checkmark next to this:

Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix Checked".
Close HijackThis.

Reboot into normal mode.
Let's try an online scan with F-Secure. It claims to work with Vista.

Go to http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning
button. A window will pop up.
Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then
click the Accept button
Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download
and the scan to complete.
If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then
select Automatic cleaning
When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will
open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL +
V) in a new reply to this post

If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel,
then New Scan

When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples
to F-Secure
Click Automatic cleaning
When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will
open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL +
V) in a new reply to this post

Please include a fresh HijackThis log and let me know if the IE Defender problem is gone.
