I agree. Usually internet providers add a lot of extra junk in their "security suites".

I use AVAST, Zone Alarm (Firewall) and Anti-spyware programs, that are all free!!!

The AVAST product is an excellent choice and seems to always receive favorable write ups. I have recently installed NOD32 offered by ESET. Check the link below as this will give you another item to consider. NOD32 is not free, however, you can try it for 30 days for free. I like the small program size, rapid scans, frequent and speedy updates, and comprehensive detection. :smileyhappy:

Thanks for all of your responses.  I will surely try Avast! first - after removing Norton of course - and see what happens.  I doubt I will try NOD 32 because of the cost.  I would try the Cox freebee first.  I do appreciate the choices you have given me, however.

Again, thanks to ALL of you.

Hi just wanted to piggyback off of Bessie's message. My norton license is wearing off as well and was wondering if the program can be easily uninstalled so i can switch to something else. i've been reading around and it seems sort of hard to uninstall these security programs. is there any resource that i can be pointed toward? any help would be appreciated.

A good place to start is the SEMANTEC (Norton) site. Depending on the product that you have there may be specific instructions for removal. Many of the products start the uninstall process via ADD/REMOVE programs  (Win XP). However, additional help from Norton, available on their site, may be required to remove all traces of their programs.

This may be of help also but I suggest you read before using their tool.
