Something Aint Quite Right?

Hi Guys,
Could do with some help,  I am running XP SP2 on a Latitude D505.  I have a corpoate Norton which updates, instals and scans no problem.  I also have Spyware Doctor which does the same.  After visiting some less salubrious web sites my computer started doing some funny things:
For a while (days) norton would shut down, or when I closed my lid without logging out and then reopened have the start up Icons disappeared.
I did a few system restalls, downloaded and ran SpyBot and Adware which found a couple of things but left me still with some nagging problems and this is where I am at.  The lid down thing is still a problem so I have to shut down and start up each time.  My quick launch tbar will now only let me have 3 icons the start up shut down thing is still a problem and I am not sure if I have any thing lurking in the background.
Any help would be gratefully recieved
Cheers
ITDM

i think the best way to find out what is wrong with your computer to to take a look at your pc's hijackthis log. so run HijackThis and show your log for us.

First, try cleaning up your computer by going through the free malware scans here:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=10345.

If you're still having problems after that, go to the HijackThis instructions here:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=4987

and follow the directions. After you post your HijackThis log, experts there will give you individualized help for your problem. They just helped me solve a problem with popups, and now my computer is running like new!
