First, please tell us more about your printer and your computer system, (example, below), you can then be directed to the appropriate Hardware Forum.    Your problem may have nothing to do with viruses or spyware.     

Probably you will need to remove and reload your printer software/driver.

I have a inspiron 6000 and my printer is a Dell Photo AIO Printer 942. I hope this helps.

You could also try using the DELL problem-solving program that came with your printer software, which you can find as follows:
 
Click on  Start/All Programs/Dell Printers/Dell Photo AIO 942/Dell Printer Solution Centre
 
Finally, you could browse the Dell Support Centre, Troubleshooting Tools, which you will find here:
