Spy Subtract

I just ran Spy Subtract, and it showed 98 entries in the Windows Registry. Here is what it said,

Path SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{90F3D7B3-92E7-44BA-B444-6A8E2A3BC375}\1.0 HELPERDIR

Threat Peer to Peer

Description Software that allows users to exchange shared files over the internet

Company    J. Marshall

Product      GnucleusDNA

Does anyone know what this could be? I should say that I just installed Avast yesterday. Could these entries be related to Avast. Thanks for any help.

The CLSID you showed {90F3D7B3-92E7-44BA-B444-6A8E2A3BC375}

There is an article addressing this issue here

As far as P2P Filesharing; If you have this program you should exercise caution when using it. Most people who have it installed make the mistake of leaving it running all the time, instead of just using it when they need it. In order for this filesharing to work, it opens a port in your firewall to allow file transfer, which if left unmonitored could leave your pc open to intrusion.

bamajim, thanks for your response. As far as I know, I don't have P2P file sharing. I don't even know what it is. Would it be something I downloaded or can it get on my computer another way? The only recent downloads have been Avast and Zone Alarm. I haven't installed Zone Alarm yet. Would Avast put these 98 entries in the registry? Should I delete them, or just leave them alone? I'm lossed as to what is safe to do.

All programs make entries into the registry, antivirus programs are no exception

Avast is a well respected program. I would leave them. The program you mentioned Spy Subtract that found them is somewhat suspect.

Zonealarm is a well respected firewall, and should be installed.

P2P could be music or video downloads

Just an update. I uninstalled Avast and scanned again. Seventy-eight of the entries were gone, so they must be part of Avast. And, I did remove Spy Subtract from my computer. Thanks for the help.
