Spyware Buffet

Alright so I think spyware programs have turned my computer into a buffet.  They keep eating away at something and it's annoying now.  The bottom right of the screen has a popup message that comes up every couple seconds and I'm gonna throw this thing across the room!  It says "Your computer is infected!"  I turned my internet protection off for an hour and all this stuff happened.  I got another program called pest something and it kept trying to scan my pc for spyware so I deleted the program.  My Norton Anti-virus/anti-spyware cannot find any files.  My computer is jacked up basically and I need help removing all of these viruses/spyware programs.  My computer also takes 5 minutes to shut-down and the dvd burner doesn't read any cds or dvds.  It also won't open unless you paper clip the little hole.  What a life!  Anyways, thanks ahead of time for any help I receive.
