Please print these instructions so you can refer to them easily. We will need to disable SpywareDoctor until our fixes are over so that it does not interfere. We will also need to make some changes to ewido so that it is not running in realtime and interfering.
To disable Spyware Doctor from running on your system startup:
1. First, disable the OnGuard Tools. This way, when you exit Spyware Doctor, these tools won't stay resident in the background.
2. Click the "Settings" button on the left side.
3. Click the "Startup Settings" link.
4. Uncheck "Run at Windows Startup".
5. Click the "Apply" button.
Exit by a right-click on the "Spyware Doctor" icon in the system tray and choose "Exit".
[To enable Spyware Doctor when you are finished, open the program, Settings>Startup Settings> CHECK "Run at Windows Startup">APPLY
Exit. Reboot.]
To disable PCTools Browser Monitor: If you are running Internet Explorer, click Tools > Manage Add-ons. If PCTools Browser Monitor is on the list, click it & select Disable. You will need to restart your browser after making the change.
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Desktop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Please double-click the ewido icon on on your Desktop
Go to Start > Run and type: services.msc
______________________________
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!
Please post your rapport.txt, and a fresh HijackThis log.

Please disable Spyware Doctor again.
Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
- If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
- Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
- Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
- Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
- Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
- Login on your usual account.
______________________________Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : " Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If it is infected and a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace the infected wininet.dll with the clean file. Answer Yes to the question " Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.
The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
______________________________
Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
- Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
- Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
- On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
- In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
- On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
- Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
- Click OK.
Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin
______________________________
Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders.
Please post your rapport.txt, the ewido report, and a fresh HijackThis log.

I dont know how to thank u. Thanks a million!!!!! :-)
Could u plz temme which antispyware should i use (or which 1 do u use) and what should i do in case there is a spyware in future ?
There was no point buying so many expensive programs like norton internet security, spyware doctor, ad ware professional etc.
Now i totally agree that the 'best things in life r always free!'
Thanks again.
Cheers!

There is just a bit more to do...
Please disable SpywareDoctor again temporarily.
Please launch HijackThis and place a checkmark next to the following:
R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
The following are optional to fix because they use resources and may be unnecessary based on your needs. Fixing them here will not prevent you from opening them manually.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
(Installs a tray icon for Quictime -- Unnecessary.)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] \"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe\" -osboot
(RealPlayer scheduler -- Unnecessary.)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe
( Intel hotkey applet -- Unnecessary.)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_03\bin\jusched.exe
( Sun Java update scheduler that checks for updates -- Unnecessary.)
Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix Checked".
Reboot.
Run Disk Cleanup in each user's profile:
Click "Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup"
Please make sure the following are checked:
-- Downloaded Program Files
-- Temporary Internet Files
-- Recycle Bin
-- Temporary Files
Click "OK" and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components:
1. Close any open programs you may have running, especially your web
browser
2. Click Start > Control Panel
* Depending on your OS or configuration, you may have to click Start
>Settings > Control Panel
3. Open Add or Remove Programs
* If you have Windows 98 or Windows 2000, open Add/Remove
Programs
4. Click once on any item listing Java Runtime Environment in the name
* Not every version of Java will begin with "Java" so be sure to read
each entry in the list
5. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button
6. Follow steps 4 and 5 as many times as necessary to remove all
versions of Java. ** If at any time during the uninstallations, you are asked to reboot, do so. Then return to Add/Remove and continue removing any other versions of Java until all components of Java have been removed.
7. Delete the Java folder in Program Files.
8. Proceed with reinstalling Java. You will need to use Internet Explorer for this.
Go to Sun Java and click the link to download the Windows (Offline Installation) package: Save it, do not run it.
When the download is complete, close the browser and install it.
Reboot.
After something like this it is a good idea to purge the Restore Points and start fresh.
If everything is running well....
To flush the XP System Restore Points:
(Using XP, you must be logged in as Administrator to do this.)
Go to Start>Run and type msconfig Press enter.
When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
On the next page, click the System Restore Settings Link on the left.
Check the box labeled Turn Off System Restore.
Reboot. Go back in and turn System Restore ON. A new Restore Point will be created.
Here is my standard list of simple steps that you can take to reduce the chance of infection in the future.
You may have already taken some of these steps:
1. Visit Windows Update:
Make sure that you have all the Critical Updates recommended for your operating system and IE. The first defense against infection is a properly patched OS.
Windows Update: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
2. Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to 'prompt', and 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'disable'.
3. Download and install the following free programs:
a. SpywareBlaster:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Tutorial here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial49.html
b. SpywareGuard:
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html
Tutorial here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial50.html
Periodically check for updates in both programs.
4. Please use a firewall and realtime anti-virus. Keep the anti-virus software and firewall software up to date.
Note: Zone Alarm Firewall (Zone Labs) http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/trial_zaFamily/trial_zaFamily.jsp?lid=home_freedownloads
Sunbelt Kerio has a free version: http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html
If you need an anti-virus you can download a free anti-virus program from here: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Before installing it, however, be sure that the remnants of all prior anti-virus software have been removed.
If you need support for AVG, their forum is located here: http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/
5. You might consider installing Mozilla / Firefox.
http://www.mozilla.org/
6. Install spyware detection and removal programs:
You may also want to consider installing either or both of AdAware (free version) and Spybot S&D (freeware). Use these programs to regularly scan your system for and remove many forms of spyware/malware.
a. Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
b. SpyBot S&D: http://safer-networking.org/en/news/2005-05-31.html
I would check for updates in SpyBot once a week or so.
Check for updates in Ad-aware frequently.
If you have recently installed Ewido, it is a free trial product for 30 days. After that you can purchase it for full features OR you can also keep the free version to use as an on-demand scanner (recommended).
You will still be able to manually update Ewido using the *update* button
7. Before using or purchasing any Spyware/Malware protection/removal program, always check the Rogue/Suspect Spyware List.
Here is the link:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
If you want to know just how effective your anti-spyware program is, or how well any of the "rogue" programs listed at the above link work, check this for an independent comparison of several anti-spyware programs: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm
8. If you have not already done so, you might want to install CCleaner and run it in each user's profile: http://www.ccleaner.com/
** UNcheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbr.
9. If you use Adobe Reader it may need to be updated to be sure that you have a more secure version. If you are using a version prior to v. 6.05, you should update to 6.05, preferably version 7.08. It would be best to remove prior versions before updating to a new version.
Info here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows
If you need additional assistance, the Adobe forums are here: http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/main.html
10. Make sure you are using the most udpated version of Java.
If you need to update, remove all prior versions using Add/Remove Programs, and delete the Java folder in Program Files.
You can go here to download the latest version: Sun Java and click the link to download the Windows (Offline Installation) package: Save it, do not run it. When the download is complete, close the browser.
Proceed with reinstalling Java. Reboot.
11. Here are some helpful articles:

Yes, Norton Internet Security does take a long time. You may want to remove that and try a free antivirus such as AVG.
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Before installing it, however, be sure that the remnants of all prior anti-virus software have been removed.
rIf you need support for AVG, their forum is located here: http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/
It is important that you remove NIS according to their instructions, though. Sometimes it is not always as simple as Add/Remove Programs because some components may need to be removed in a certain sequence.
If I remember correctly, NAV Live Update should be removed first.
More here:
How To Uninstall All Norton Products Tool-Automatic
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=&docid=2005011810335136&nsf=nip.nsf&view=es_full&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=&seg
If you've got an older version installed:
How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2002/2003
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/8d071816eedd7cac88256c0e005a96e5/81a95b2ad449860288256bd400800b13?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam
I would keep only one cleaning utility. You have 3. I don't know much about Super Cleaner but it probably does the same as CCleaner, and I prefer CCleaner over CleanUp! .
I would definitely remove Limewire. any file sharing opens the door to all kinds of worms, trojans, and viruses.
A current version of Limewire is reported to include spyware. LimeWire 4.9.28 is clean. Older and newer version may not be.)
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453088059
http://www.benedelman.org/spyware/p2p/
To remove LimeWire, use the uninstaller:
Open the LimeWire folder.
Double click on the Uninstall LimeWire 18c icon.
Then delete the Limewire folder in your Program files.
There are empty entries in your HJT log that can be fixed, but first, you will need to temporarily disable SpywareGuard and SpywareDoctor.
Then launch HijackThis and place a checkmark next to these:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {873eb32d-ae1a-4183-89bd-45a77f761be4} - (no file)
Close all windows except HJT and click "Fix Checked".
Reboot.
As far as other applications in your Startup list, you might want to get some opinions from the XP forum.
Also, here is some information on what services are needed at Startup:
http://www.dead-eye.net/WinXP%20Services.htm
** NOTE: (Dell's forum software will not format the links that I have added in bold text, so you will have to copy/paste those into your browser.)
My specialty is cleaning malware, so for non-related questions, please feel free to visit some of our other forums.
