Steve-

When it started running it stopped and said that it had encountered a problem and must close.

Now what

I have the program downloaded and on my computer.  It is when I run it that it says it encounters an error and shuts down.  I did start up in safe mode and ran the program but got the same results.  Should I disable anything before I run the program such as zone alarm, avg, etc?

Steve-

My zone alarm and avg come on when I start up.  I don't know what they  do in safe mode.  I disabled spyblaster and popup catcher.  Still no luck.  I have to go for now and will try to get back on this tomorrow.  Thanks for your help and if you think of anything to safely try let me know.  This goes for others as well.  Surely there is an answer to this.

>but BellSouth tells me it is spyware

A relatively innocuous Bell site finder URL, but it's funny they called it spyware because their whole bundle of junk including Broadjump does spy on you. *.-) Everyone who uses Bell's Yahoo! DSL install CD has the same junk.

For a clean install of Yahoo DSL try this:

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/5448    (Read the first paragraph in the Answer...I have done this for over 50 machines without using the sorry CD).

Also...if that six-month old version of HJT works, then the newer 1.99 should also run.

Cheers,

Steve,

Sorry, been out for a few coding my new analysis modules.

Thomas,

First, look in Add/Remove programs and see if any Bellsouth tools can be removed from there; like search & toolbar.

-----

Have HiJackThis fix these:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0B53EAC3-8D69-4b9e-9B19-A37C9A5676A7} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - (no file)

-----

Post back a new log, using the newest version of HiJackThis; it might pick something else up, that this version can't.

Mike.

Mike-

I looked in add/remove amd the only two BellSouth entries were BellSouth Fast Access DSL Help Center an BellSouth PopUp Catcher.  I did not delete either one.  Below is my hijack this after deleteing the 3 items you suggested.  I will try again to download the later version of hijack and see if it will work now.  I tried it before I downloaded this version and it would stop in the middle of running the hijack and said it had encoundered a problem and was shutting down.  If I can get it to work I will post the results

Thomas,

You still might be able to try version 1.98.2 avaialble for download at MajorGeeks if 1.99.0 is crashing on your system.
