Strange Window during WinXP Startup

Question

I recently had a problem with a corrupted Ad-Aware/Ad-Watch file which apparently caused a number of problems - loss of all file associations, icons failing to appear in the taskbar, and a strange window which appears during the bootup/windows startup process.  I have thoroughly scanned for viruses and spyware and found none.  I cleaned and repaired the registry with three different applications, corrected the file associations and the icons are back in the task, bar but the strange window still appears.   The window has three random characters (frequently chinese or japanese kanji characters) in the windows title and the window itself.  It has an OK button and the only way to close it and continue to start windows is to click the OK button.  If I do a 'diagnostic startup' with basic drivers and services I do not get the window.   Anyone have this problem and if so how is it solved.  Oh by the way, closing the window and continuing to restart does not seem to cause any problems.   Lew   This my HiJack file. Nothing obvious in your log. There are two programs I'm not really familiar with but supposedly they are OK.

Anyway assuming the above two programs are not the cause then the way to find it is to run msconfig and uncheck everything in the Startup list then reboot. If that stopped it then it was one of the Startup entries. Turn half of them on and try again. If it didn't help then go to the Services tab and check Hide Microsoft services then uncheck everything that was left. Reboot and see if that fixed it. IF it helped then turn half of them back on. I think you get the idea. Eventually you should be able to narrow it down to the program that is so confused that it can't speak English.

Arigato Gozaimashita - 'thanks' in Japanese. I will do as you suggest and have done some of that in the trouble shooting process so far. The two entries you cite are know to me and I don't think they are the problem.
