Sudden slow computer, weird things, Hijackthis log

Ok since last Thursday my PC (Dell Latitude D610 laptop) has been extremely slow in everything I've done, It takes and age to load a game up (Counterstrike source took 10-20 seconds but it is now at least 3 mins now, even worse with Team Fortress 2), I've tried to restore it to an earlier point with system restore but it failed. Everytime I restart the laptop, it takes about 5-10 mins to do instead of 3 mins, when I am logging in it says 'loading logon sound' and 'executing wlnotify.dll', when I logoff it says 'loading logoff sound'. I've had this laptop for about 7 months, have never had this problem before. I thought I might have a virus so I downloaded and installed Avast! and ran a full scan, and came up with a trojan and some adware/spyware which both got deleted, but even after i restarted the pc was still really laggy. I have 1gb of RAM, 1.6ghz centrino processor, 120gb HDD and about 35gb free. Here is the logfile.

cactuar.

Welcome to DCF.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press " Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
Important: Do NOT run option # 2 or any other options until asked to do so!
**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Very good.

Please download Combofix from one of these locations:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

* Take note that the links are case sensitive

Save ComboFix to the desktop.

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to, and run from your desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it as this is a new version.

* Close any open browsers.
* Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang. Do not proceed with the rest of the fix if you fail to run combofix

Please visit this link http://virusscan.jotti.org/
* Click the Browse... button
* Navigate to the following file

C:\WINDOWS\hiqdheph.dat
* Click Open
* Please let me know the results.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Run an online virus scan called Kaspersky from HERE.
  • 1. Click on " Kaspersky Online Scanner"
    2. A new smaller window will pop up. Press on " Accept". After reading the contents.
    3. Now Kaspersky will update the anti-virus database. Let it run.
    4. Click on " Next"->>" Scan Settings", and make sure the database is set to " extended". And check both the scan options. Then click OK.
    5. Then click on " My Computer". And the scan will start.
    6. When the scan is complete Select "Save error report as"
Then in the file name just type in kaspersky
Under "save as type" select text .txt
    Save it to your Desktop.

Copy and post the results of the Kaspersky Online scan

In your next reply, please include the following:

  • The Jotti file scan log
  • The Kaspersky online scan log
  • A fresh HijackThis log
  • An update on how your PC is running.
Thanks

Uh I couldn't do the jotti thing because that file wasn't in my windows folder, sorry.

As for my computer, I've done a full defrag, chkdsk, 2 full avast scans, cleaned my HDD, uninstalled some things, and it is still slow as. It is a little tiny bit better though but that is likeley because of the defrag.

But that kapersky report found 3 viruses! Hopefully I can have it fixed soon :D thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also ran Spybot S&D and got rid of a bunch of spyware/adware.

The file may be hidden. Let's try this.

Show your hidden files
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

  1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
  2. Double-click on the My Computer icon (or click Start, then select My Computer)
  3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
  5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
  6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
  7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
  8. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
  9. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
  10. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files. You will reverse this process when your system is clean.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once this has been done, try to re-submit the file (C:\WINDOWS\hiqdheph.dat) for scanning at Jotti as per the instructions above.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using Windows Explorer
  • (Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents)

Locate and Delete the following files

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Games and Stuff\DS Stuff\M3 Real stuff\G6&M3 Cheat Code Combiner.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Games and Stuff\DS Stuff\M3 Real stuff\G6&M3_Cheat_Code_Combiner_V1.21beta.zip
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm) II\Bt2DC-2.2-Install.exe
C:\Program Files\G6M3 CheatCode Combiner\CheatCode Combiner for G6M3.exe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me know the results of the file scan please.

Ok I did what you said, but I still couldn't find the file. However, when i typed the file location in it started to scan, i think. I'm not sure where the results were but I think this screenshot is them.

I deleted those files as well.

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
    • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
  • Click Close to exit the program.

In your next reply, please include the following:

  • The SUPERAntiSpyware log

My computer is still slow to restart and when in use but I notice a new bit of  writing at startup. It still says the 'executing wlnotify.dll' and 'loading logoff sound' but after i rebooted from the superantispyware scan it said something about 'RPCSS', just thought I'd let you know that.

What should I do about posting the other log? I think i know why i can't paste it, it has this line in it

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\owner@youp*rn[1].txt

the * being an o of course... Is there some sort of a censor?

Uh it won't allow me to post the SuperAntiSpyware log because of some prohibited content or something and it wouldn't let me paste the exact reason in the pink box :|
