Followed directions, picked up on a bunch of malicious items. Ran Malware again on fullscan with nothing malicious picked up.

Tried IE and google now functional with no spam go.google redirects. Alsom previously various sites such as Dellcommunity and lavasoft would not be accessible from IE or Opera - now seem to work ok. Only residual problem is that regular file explorer is excrutiatingly slow - not sure if this is related or not.

If you could have a look at the attached Malware log to see if there is anything else that i should be doing, i would much appreciate it.

Thanks for everything.

You are most welcome.

Almost there

1. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AF69DE43-7D58-4638-B6FA-CE66B5AD205D} - (no file)

Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select " Fix checked"

Close Hijackthis ->> Reboot your PC

Please perform an Ewido Online Malware Scan

  • When a dialog box appears asking you if you would like to download and install the ewido anti-spyware online scanner please click Yes to allow the download.
  • Click on Start Scan.
  • after the scan completes it will produce a log for you, copy and paste the results of that scan as a reply to this thread
  • If any infections are found, (After you save the logfile), Click on Remove Infections.

Bamajim

Thanks for your continued support.

I ran Hijackthis and deleted the 2 registry items and rebooted the PC.

When i went to the Ewido site, i had problems getting the online scan to work. Initial prompt about activex resulted in a blank screen. Tried it multiple times but not getting any response.

I did download the "micro" version of the application from the website and ran a scan with that. It revealed about a dozen cookies which i "removed" - failed to save the logfile sorry. Wasn't anything that looked supicious, just the sites that i had previously gone to.

Anything else to be done do you think?

Here's the latest log. I do notice that the two registry keys that you had me delete in the last go-around are now back !!!!! May be a coincidence, but when i logged into the Dellcommunity site this morning the home screen was a bit weird, the navigation panel on the left was not there and some of the screen looked a bit messed up.

1. We Need to temporarily disable SpyBotS&D Tea timer so it doesn't interfere with our fix
  • 1) Run Spybot-S&D
    2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
    3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
    4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
    5) Restart your computer.

2. Disable AdWatch

Look to see if there is the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray.
If so, right click on it and choose *settings* and then under the *General Settings* Tab, turn off (red x) the option for "load Ad-Watch at Startup".
Next go to the *Status* tab in the left menu of Ad-Watch.
Turn OFF (red x) the Regshield.
Close that window when done then right-click the Ad-Watch icon once more from the system tray and choose *Close Ad-Watch*.

3. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AF69DE43-7D58-4638-B6FA-CE66B5AD205D} - (no file)

Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select " Fix checked"

Close Hijackthis ->> Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

Do you ever remember allowing or disallowing anything in Spybot regardignt ehose Browser Helper objects?

If so do this: (Again with AdWatch Disabled)

While both Teatimer and SpyBot are closed:
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer from restoring them upon reactivation).

  http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
Alternate link:
  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/ResetTeaTimer.bat

Right click and save link as
Save it as resetteatimer.bat
Save it to your Desktop

1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.

Double click on resetteatimer.bat and wait for it to finish

Since it will not be needed again, delete ResetTeaTimer.bat after you run it.
When we are COMPLETELY finished with ALL your fixes, you can turn Teatimer back on again via SpyBot's tools resident page.

2. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AF69DE43-7D58-4638-B6FA-CE66B5AD205D} - (no file)

Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select " Fix checked"

Close Hijackthis ->> Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

Good. Glad to hear it.

Let's do one more check to make sure we didn't miss anything

Please perform an Ewido Online Malware Scan

  • When a dialog box appears asking you if you would like to download and install the ewido anti-spyware online scanner please click Yes to allow the download.
  • Click on Start Scan.
  • after the scan completes it will produce a log for you, copy and paste the results of that scan as a reply to this thread
  • If any infections are found, (After you save the logfile), Click on Remove Infections.
