"SysFader": Anyone Know Anything About ?
Hello:
Have been getting SysFader error msg's when shutting down (using XP on new 4700 PC)
Anyone know anything about this SysFader ?
Could it possibly be the cause of the problem I have been posting
about recently regarding desktop shortcut icons suddenly not working ?
Is this the correct Forum to post this query ?
Thanks,
Bob

I'm not sure. Can you post back the entire error message your getting reguarding SysFader?
You might also try the "Sofware" or "Operating System" forums.

Much thasnks for reply and help.
Have a new 4700 running XP
There are two "error msg's" that come up fairly often when shutting down.
One relates, apparently, to Direct " DB Notify Wnd "
and the other, that I mentioned previously, to " SysFader "
Both go thru the same routine.
A message appears that says that the program is Not Responding, and if you
choose to end this program immediately....
Then it says it is Ending Program, and the horizontal bar shows progress in
what I take is XP's doing a special closing routine.
Have no idea what either Direct DB Notify Wnd or SysFader are.
It seems pretty random on closing in that sometimes one goes thru the above
routine, sometimes the other,
and at times both. Also, at times, it may close normally.
Regards, and thanks,
Bob

Your welcome. That's one i've never seen before.
I was looking at this post:
http://www.opentechsupport.net/forums/archive/topic/29254-1.html
Also check "Event Viewer" under "Application" first, then "System". Look for any error or warning messages. If you find one, right-click on it and select "Properties". Maybe that will turn up more information on what's causing the problem.

Took a look at Event Viewer per your suggestion.
Wow !
Think you have to be a lot sharper with this stuff than I am to
actually understand the warnings and errors that they list.
Sure are a lot of them.
Probably amazing that "anything" works, seeing all of them !
Under Applications, many of them are:
McLogEvent
Userenv
WinMgmt
Under System,
DCOM
Dhcp
IPNATHLP
Tcpip
Thanks and regards,
Bob

BOBRRR,
At this point im not sure. Try posting this in the software forum - maybe someone there might be able to help.
Let me know how it turns out.
Mike.
