System Mechanic 6 spython problem.

I had SM 5, but made the "mistake" of upgrading to 6 last year.

I though, since I paid for it, I might as well use it. The latest version seems to have most of the bugs worked out.

The problem is the spython wizard not working.

I already uninstalled SM6, and deleted the folder after rebooting. Then reinstalled SM6.

BUT, still get the same error after downloading Spython Wizard Definitions:

I'm not real fimilar with SM6, but I noticed that in your message you had Spybot S&D and Spyware blaster. If Spybot is in Real Time (tea timer) mode it could be interfering with data def downloads.

You probably already tried this, but have you done an online scan? Like Trend,Panda, etc.

Yes, I always run various scans. Spython was the only one that didn't work. I guess I'm too careful.

Got an email from iolo's tech support.(4-19-06) It seems there is a problem with their update files.

They told me to download and install the definitions manually, but it did not work.Still get the same error message.

Finally, I erased the spython folder, reinstalled System Mechanic 6, and did not allow spython to update. It works. But the definitions are almost 6 months old.

I'll just have to live with it until they fix it. (I'll probably die of old age)

But a word od note: I bashed System Mechanic 6, because of all of the bugs, and freezeups. But with the latest version, it seems to work great. Just don't update Spython, lol.
