gwen,

for future reference:   you should try to keep all related communication in ONE thread, by REPLYing in that thread when you want to write back to the individuals who are helping you.

by starting separate threads each time:
1) there's no guarantee that the person you're "replying" to will even find the separate message.
2) for other people trying to follow, there's no sense of "continuity" of the topic.

Basically, this is an open/public forum.  Anyone may ask ("post") a question... and ANYONE may reply to it, regardless of qualifications.   So the first thing you have to realize, is that the "help" you're getting is only as good as the person who happens to be answering your question.   No one here, except perhaps for a forum moderator, actually works for Dell.   And Dell is not responsible for any advice/opinions offered in these forums, be it good or bad.

In terms of posting questions, you should try to find the most "appropriate" forum in which to post your questions.  for example, this particular forum is supposed to be devoted to general questions about viruses and spyware.    likewise, there are other forums that consider other specific matters (for example, audio-related issues/problems on a Dimension system).

Finally, as i mentioned above, once you post a question, and get a response, the best way to continue [as a follow-up to that same issue] is to re-enter the same thread, click on REPLY, and post your response there.    This not only keeps things more organized than starting a new thread everytime... it has the advantage that all the people already in that thread [can] automatically get an e-mail advising them that a new post has been added to that thread, allowing them to keep on top of the matter.

Sorry about the errors, I am new to this and have little if any knowledge of how to maneuver in this type of arena (if you will) again, I apologize for any confusion, but, I do thank you for the correction, don't fully understand how I did that but, I appreciate the direction ky331, if someone is willing to briefly explain the overall purpose and nature of this site I would appreciate it.  No!, I don't know  how to access the site that probably explains the function of this Community forum, so, again I apologize for any confusion.  Still looking for a user friendly way of downloading music, in addition to being safe.

Hi, I'm brand new to the Forum also and  have floundered around many times.  On the Forum Home page, there's an icon with 3 people entitled "New to the Community?  Click here to view FAQ's".  I've been there many times - and printed out various topics.  Very clear, concise information which EVEN I could understand!  Good luck - don't give up.....
