Item 2 on the list mentions Upgrade Kit to v14.  Click on the words upgrade kit and now you can download the upgrade.  Install and you are Vista compliant...

Okay... Everything uninstalled correctly...computer goes to restart...boots up and tells me that I don't have access rights to install the upgrade kit on my computer. I am both the only user and administrator as this is my personal machine. I thought it might be a vista glich and I log off expecting to see two accounts...the one with my current name and administrator. Nope...just my name. Then the same pop up involving access rights. Help!

Sounds like a UAC problem to me.  Go into Control panel...open the user account applet.  You will see at the bottom "Turn User Account Control on or off"  Turn it off and reinstall the software...should fix the problem.  Not everything in Vista is that great.  At the end of the install...you can either turn it back on or leave off.  If you choose to leave off...all the security prompts go away.

I had problems with Adobe Photoshop CS2.  Everytime I opened the program, I was prompted to register it.  Over and over...seems that UAC blocked the registration and write to the registry that activation had taken place...

Alright so here is what has happened... I took off the UAC control after finding it in the control panel and restarted. Boots up and I get a pop up saying that Trend micro blah blah is either not compatible or not installed. Simple enough, the upgrade kit erased it to install the new one...so I try to install the copy that came with my PC. No dice, because the installer either isn't compatible with vista or doesn't want to be. Any advice from here? The only thing i can think of is to get ahold of Dell customer service rep and get them to send me a copy of the newest version because i'm not about to downgrade my system to install antivirus just to upgrade it...there has to be a better solution Any ideas? And by the way...you've been a great help.

I had a similar issue.  E mailed Trend Micro...and they sent me the full v14 install.  Go to their website and try a live chat...

Thanks... I couldn't find the live chat but i sent an email, hopefully I'll get the same result you did. In the meantime... Is there anyway I can get rid of this silly update window? And it won't let my sidebar gadgets start...any advice?
