Trojan.Vundo help please

Question

for the past couple weeks i have been battling the Trojan.Vundo to no avail.  Norton was telling me it could not be repaired and the symantec removal tool detected it a couple times, but also would tell me it was not found other times.  I continued to get the Norton popup telling me that my computer had the virus Trojan.Vundo.  i read a forum that suggested the VundoBeGone download.  I downloaded and ran the VundoBeGone and got the 'Blue Screen of Death' saying fatal errors and begining physical memory dump.  I rebooted my system and ran the FixVundo tool from Symantec.  it did not find the virus on my computer.  I then ran a full scan and again, the virus was not found.  the popups have finally stopped and i think the virus may be gone, but i want to make sure im not missing any steps.  the log from VBG is as follows....PLEASE HELP!! Download the latest version of HJT(hijackthis) (version 1.99.1) from

http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

you must create a separate folder and place it there.... people commonly use C:\HJT. Note: Please do *NOT* use a TEMP (temporary) folder, *NOR* your DESKTOP, as HJT will be generating log files and backup files in the folder from which it is run... you risk accidentally losing these if you use a TEMP folder, and you will generate extreme clutter if you use your DESKTOP.

The file above comes as a compressed .ZIP file... you have to UNzip it (hopefully, you have an UNzip utility built into your Windows Explorer. If for any reason, you're unable to UNzip it, you can download the already-unzipped .EXE file from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HijackThis.exe )

After Unzipping, double click on HiJackThis.EXE

Click on Do a System Scan and Save a LogFile

This will automatically open NotePad

Copy the entire file from NotePad: EDIT/SelectAll, EDIT/Copy

c) BAD: posting your log in the wrong forum...

if you post your log any other forum, it will "sit idly", either until the forum moderator gets around to move it for you... or until you decide to repost your log... in the HiJackThis forum.

POST SCRIPT: It has come to my attention that many people are unfamiliar with how to create the recommended sub-directory/folder C:\HJT ;

while others are able to create this directory, but are unsure how to move HJT into it (from wherever it happened to get downloaded into, "by default")...

If you have either of these "problems", then you should d ownload a self-extracting copy of HijackThis from

http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the file hijackthis_sfx.exe file, and it will self-extract into its own folder,

the fact that the popups have stopped is certainly a good sign.   however,the VBG log, by itself, does not give us enough information in this case... we'll need to see a HiJackThis log as well.

Looks like VirtumundoBeGone successfully deactivated the bad WinFixer/Vundo file.

Make sure you have System Restore running (toggle it off and On today to get rid of any bad stuff it may have retained)
and then you can just go back to an earlier time if you hit a bad site.

One way to make an infection more obvious is to check everything in your current HijackThis and Add to Ignore List then set up Hijackthis to run at boot and to show you if it finds anything new.

Make sure you have removed any older versions of Java or JRE with Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Updates do not remove the older versions which have exploitable flaws.

If you are not running the latest version of Adobe you should consider updating. There are reports of a loophole for hackers in pre 7.03 versions.
