Start, Run,sigverif, OK and press Start when the new program starts.  When it finishes, check the list it generates.  We are especially interested in wininet.dll but any other dll, exe or sys files that have dates from about the time the problem started are also of interest.

Also run rootkitrevealer from http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html

again we are looking for the same type fles.  We don't care too much about registry mismatches and such.

I tried to run sigveriff and Windows can't find it.

I ran RootkitRevealer and nothing came up.

Would I just be better off backing up the files I want saved and just running a complete system restore or do I still have any more options available?

sigverif with only one f.

Backing up and reinstalling is probably quicker.  Up to you.
