Updates 1/11/11 - Microsoft Tuesday
Today is "Microsoft Tuesday" --- the SECOND Tuesday of the month --- on which Microsoft is expected to release its monthly cycle of Windows critical/security updates. I believe only one or two updates are expected this month. Based on previous history, they should become available as of 1 PM [Eastern USA Standard Time].
Please use automatic or Windows/Microsoft Update to determine which updates, if any, are applicable to your particular system.

No problems here, doing manual updates (and waiting my usual day).
Using MS Update for XP/sp3:
KB2419632
+MSRT
Using Windows Update for Windows 7 Pro:
KB2419640
KB976902 (important update for Win7)
KB2452846 (optional/recommended for Win7)-> restart needed
+MSRT

Wise advice, RD.
Most of the posts in your first link indicate that Symantec AV was a common factor, and the KB2454826 update didn't play well with it. I use MSE . Or maybe I just was lucky in experiencing no problems with Win 7.
Either way, this problem just affirms my practice of not automically installing these patches. If MS can wait a month to release them, I can wait another day or two to let others discover the bugs.
