Virus Burst, Help

Question

I have a blinking icon on the lower right of my screen that keeps showing different spyware alerts as well as taking over my home page. The initial page goes to Virus Burst. I have tried using adaware and virus programs that have been usuccessful at removing the problem. I have seen some response to others with this problem. Please help.

Click http://ralphcaddell.com/Uploads/HjThis.exe to download a self extractable version of hijackthis.

Double-click on hijackthis.exe to extract hijackthis to folder c:\hijackthis.
It will extract it to that folder and open the folder for you.
It will also create a shortcut on your desktop to Hijackthis.

Then run Hijackthis and post your log as a reply to this thread

I appreciate your help. I kept plugging along and was able to remove it with the help of AVG and SmitFraudFix. What a relief. I do have another question regarding my computer however that may very well be due to a virus. I have been unable to perform a system restore on my Sindows XP Pro for about a year. What should I do?

Glad to hear it. To answer your system restore question. Ususally system restore problems are only caused by 2 things: infection and file corruption.

I may be better that you post another hijckthis log fo rme to look at to make sure it's clean. However, if you feel you problem is resolved, then surf safe
