Virus/router question

If you have 2 computers protected by a hardware firewall (router), and 1 computer is infected with a virus or worm or trojan...;

          can the virus/worm/trojan.... pass into the uninfected computer via the router?

I'm not a network expert so others may chime in...but as I recall Nimda was one of the best at infecting networked PCs...when file sharing is enabled your workstations are vulnerable. Password protect any file sharing clients.

The short answer is "YES", in fact the long answer is also "YES".  Also I doubt if you really have a hardware firewall, most home routers use NAT which gives some protection, but it is far from a true firewall.

if you dont use file sharing on the network, you could just disable the sharing of files and/or printers through the LAN Properties
