Windows Defender 'Check for Updates' button not working
I decided to try Windows Defender (beta 2) again today. After installation, the program checked for and sucessfully downloaded/installed the latest updates.
However, you can also manually check for updates by opening WD, and clicking Help Options, About Windows Defender, then clicking 'Check For Updates'. When I do that, nothing happens. Is this a common glitch with WD?

I have tried it again, averting my gaze from its clunky ways. (Sorry!) Apparently it only updates with a Windows Update through that update process...had about 4 of them last week...then I let it do a full scan the other night instead the quicky. It looked at something 770,000 files, took a long time, and found no problems.
I had checked the box to let it look for updates and then do a scan, but I don't remember it finding updates that way. I don't know how much resources it is eating up, and not sure about the restore points. Just using as another layer of protection in the ongoing battle.
Using ZA Free Home Edition
Latest Avast Antivirus version
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
Spyware Blaster
Win Patrol ....to keep track of things on my system. This one recommended by others on this forum. No apparent conflicts amongst these various products, and any slowness of my system can hopefully be attributed to my stubborn resistance to going broadband and sticking with my dial-up. :smileywink:
