Windows Update vs Comodo Firewall

I can't remember if I have downloaded a Windows Update since I installed Comodo 3 on my other computer. The firewall program was very busy during the download sending up all those alerts, at least a hundred of them or more. The learning mode was busy also, working with what appeared to be the processes, or it might have been the start up items. I selected that Protection + feature which I can't remember the correct name for when I originally installed the firewall .

I changed the choices on the alert box to treat the files in question as an update or installation, but it wanted to change back after a short time to the OK each one as it comes up mode. The program seems to ask about the same files after I have allowed them the first time. Is there a way to reduce these alerts? As I said above, perhaps I have not done a Windows Update since I installed the firewall, since other security products have slowed way down on their alerts, so that could be the reason for the alert activity. I have yet to install this on my main computer until I hear the the reported bugs have been worked out of it. Thanks for any up to date info about this firewall.

Dale:

First of all, whem you choose to treat files as an update or installation, it is normal for CFP to ask after about 30 seconds if you want to change back to regular mode. When I was downloading the latest batch of updates from MSU (I don't use automatic updates, but do the manual download) I kept telling CFP to keep treating these files as an update or installation. (since there were about 9 updates, it took a while to download/install, even with broadband).

Second, when an alert pops up, and you trust the file,  check " remember my answer" to prevent a trusted app from keeping generating alerts in future.

Third, if you are absolutely sure your PC is clean (free of malware), right-click on the CFP icon in your application tray, point to " Defense+ Security Level" and click on " Clean PC mode". This tells Defense+ that any currently loaded app is safe, and should further decrease alerts when you open these apps. (This only applies to those who chose the default "Advanced+" install).

Finally, some good news -

Comodo has released a new full version (non-beta) that has solved many of the problems reported. Early feedback in the Comodo forums is promising, and in my case all problems seem to be gone. But times are early, and I will post a link and new installation instructions, probably  later today. The download has decreased from 32 to 9 MB, because Comodo has reduced the size of the safe files database.
