Windows updates cause spyware

Question

I was told by a dell representative that the windows updates contain some spyware in them and not to download any.  He said they are called 'Hotfix' and that I should go into the add/remove programs and delete them all. According to the dell site and others however, it says to download all the updates because they contain patches, etc..  What am I supposed to do? Anyone have an idea?

That Dell rep needs to be re-educated, or fired. Keep up to date with all critical updates. It's the one most important thing you can do to maintain a secure system.
