Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)
however, it would still prudent to post your follow-up log, so that 1) we can confirm the deletion, as well as 2) pass-on your log to someone else for further analysis, as i was focusing on your winfixer problem only (no more, no less).
in response to your question, winfixer is in GREAT circulation at the moment... seems like "tons" of people are catching it... so i doubt it's anything your teenage daughter would have done. rather, it seems like the creators of winfixer are doing deceptive things, to trick people into getting the infection.... see the following, for a listing of how some people have "caught" the problem.
Thank you very much it appears to have worked. I am wondering where I could have picked this up unless it's some of the sites my teenage daughter is going to?? Dan

I see that significant time has passed, and that no one has "shown up" to do the follow-up on your log :smileysad: I apologize for this oversight.
in all likelihood, you may have implemented significant changes since you posted your last log here... meaning that the log, as posted above, probably no-longer reflects the current state of your system.
if you're experiencing any problems that you're aware of, or if you'd just like to request an overall "check-up" again, please start a NEW thread, generate your latest HJT log, and post it there.
Accordingly, this thread will now be considered "closed", and will not be monitored for future replies.

you should try following the information given here:http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=16923#M16923
when you're done, append a copy of your NEW HJT log to this thread.

Looks like the VundoFix successfully removed the bad WinFixer/Vundo file.
However, your log still shows a (non-critical) "remnant" of it, which we can easily remove now:
Run HiJackThis. Place a check-mark in the box in front of the line:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: yabyx - C:\WINDOWS\system32\yabyx.dll (file missing)
Click on FIX CHECKED. Close HiJackThis. Reboot. And then generate/post another log.
At that point, I'm gonna ask someone else to step-in, to determine additional problems (if any) that you might have.
Good luck.

Accordingly, this thread will now be considered "closed", and will not be monitored for future replies.
wishing you good luck.
