WinFixer - please help...

Question

I'm really ticked off at this thing.  This is the most persistent spyware I've ever had on my computer. What the program does is that it pops up ads every once in a while most of the time after i search for something. I have not been able to find the program's files on my computer at all after referencing to many different web sites and cannot find any of the files associated with the spyware. The dlls I listed above that are running that do not appear in my Processes List.  There is no 'winfixer' folder in my program files and I can't find those 2 dlls in my SYSTEM32 folder either.   I have used all these programs to search for the spyware but none have picked it up at all (all updated to latest definitions): McAfee VirusScan, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Bazooka Scanner, and AOL Spyware Protection.   Please help me ;_;

just a little bit of an update.  I downloaded Spy Sweeper, and it found the problems i believe.  I have the adware VirtuMonde, and the Trojan trojan.downloader.conhook     i told spy sweeper to remove it, and it asked me to reboot so i did, and it was still there.  I've tried it again and it still didn't work...

based on the line   O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkjj.dll you should try following the information given here:   http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_virus&message.id=43550           after you complete everything indicated there, you'll need to run the entire procedure again, but this time, based on the other line   O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddaya.dll (even though this second line doesn't include the word 'MSEvents')       when you're done with BOTH versions, APPEND a copy of your NEW HJT log to this thread.

This is Ron. Your log is clean. Is your firewall running?

Make sure you have System Restore running (toggle it off and On today to get rid of any bad stuff it may have retained) and then you can just go back to an earlier time if you hit a bad site.

One way to make this more obvious is to check everything in your current HijackThis and Add to Ignore List then set up Hijackthis to run at boot and to show you if it finds anything new. Then you can google on the .dll or .exe file in the entry and decide if you want to keep it.

To avoid going to a bad site you might want to install IE-SpyAd and SpywareBlaster and make the other changes recommended at:.

thanks for the advice, i'll definitely step up my security with some of those.   yes, i always have McAfee Firewalll and VirusScan running at all times.  I turn off Windows Firewall for my main connection because it messes up my FTP that i use frequently and i wasn't really able to figure out how to make it work with it on. You only want one firewall running at a time.  To make FTP work through a firewall you can open IE then Tools, Internet Options, then Advanced, then check Use Passive FTP then OK.  Then close IE.  It should work the next time.   Ron
