Yet Another netspry post

As most people on this board, I'm here asking about the removal of netspry. I downloaded hijack this and have the log, but I wouldn't dare interpret it without someone who knows what they're really doing. Thanks ahead of time to anyone that helps. Here's the log:

I had the same problem.  I sent an email to Netspry for their help and this is what they passed on to me:

To delete our software and change your homepage back to the website you would like, please do the following:
1. Make sure all your Internet Explorer windows are closed (you can hit ctrl + alt and delete to get to the task manager to make sure)
2. Go to "C:/Program Files/Homepage" and Delete the entire folder.
3. Open up Internet Explorer and go to Tools then Internet Options and set your homepage there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To make sure that it took, I then went into the registry and changed the following value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main/Start Page and set it to my normal home page.

I rebooted and it worked!!!

February 19th, 2004 19:00

That seems to have worked. Hopefully that'll be the end of it. Thanks so much.

Except that just like everyone else that bark22 has give that advice too, you have lots of other stuff bad in your log, netspry is the least of it.

What a shame bark22 could not have kept his bad advice to himself.

------------------------------------
Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary. Please delete the old copy so it can't be used.
---------------------------------------
You have a pepper infection

http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

When you run the uninstaller, you MUST have an internet connection active for it to work.
Please run it twice with a reboot in between.
----------------------------
then post a fresh log for me to advice

The only malware that I see on your system now is AOL.

I don't think you would like me to renove that LOL. (Sorry for that, not an AOL fan)

---------------------------------------
Your log is now clean.

Follow the link below to my site, malware section, and install spywareblaster and spywareguard from the links.

Also ie-spyad from here
With all those active you will be safer, do update them periodically.

Thanks for all the help.

I apologize profusely for any 'bad advise' that I gave out.

It was not my intent to lead anyone down the wrong path.

The question was asked about the removal of Netspry.  I answered

the question with what worked for me and now I am being reamed for it.

I did not know that this was a forum for HijackIt experts and did not mean to

intrude.

I will go away now.
