Connect one Server to two Storage Groups
Hi !
I know ther already have been some discussions here but they did not help me.
I have a Windows 2008 R2 Backup Server which one is connected via FC to our VNX5300 and it is working fine.
Now we had to setup a second Storage Group (because of some reasons).
I'd like to backup LUNs in both Storage Groups with the single Backup Server. Is there a way to give it access to all LUNs which are located in the two different Storage Groups ?
It would be okay for me, if I could divide the four initiatiors into groups with two. So I could create two hosts with two initiators for each. Is that possible ? And how do I have to set this up ?
Regards Wolfgang

okay I restarted the management on the SPB too with no effect.
I nothing changed at the zoning or the physically connections. I only clicked twice on the deregister button on the connectivity hosts window. And I choosed these two WWN with the same ending.

OK, just had to make sure. I noticed you are going with the solution Dynamox proposed right in the beginning which is the normal way about this situation and would have prevented this deregistering changes.
Anyways, moving a long to resolve the missing HBAs....I guess we can start by starting the Host agents again to see if it will rememeber the missing HBAs...
Let me know

Have you tried a reconnect?
Host List then highlite host and click on Connectivity Details.
Highlite host and click reconnect
Fingers crossed

close your browser and walk away for 30min or so, Unisphere can be so flaky at times ..sometimes i need to give it time to get caught up.

Hello
I've seen something similar once.
We had to shut down host.
Restart both the spa management server and spb management server
I always used the following approach way when I restart the management server.
Restart SPA management server - restart SPb management server before SPA management server is up again (do not know why - but that's how I've always done it)
Turn on the host again.
Maybe that will work for you also

Hi Ankerstjerne,
i tried your suggestions without any effort.
Now I deregistered the whole server, because the backup could no more access the LUNs. I installed now the Host agent. Now chance, I do not see any connection from the backup server's HBAs.

Hi Dynamox
I clicked the link and it was unable to find the page.
Dont you mean to send a link for the Client Utility instead of the Server Utility?
If so then this link below should take you to get the latest version Unisphere Client Utility for Windows, file zise is just under 100MB
