Vostro 3268, adding second SSD
Hi!
I have the Dell Vostro 3268 and there is already an SSD installed. I want to add another SSD (2.5") but I'm quite sure if it's supported. There is a free SATA port available on the motherboard but I can't find a way to connect the power cable to the new SSD disk. The power cable of the DVD Drive has a different port from the SSD, actually it's smaller. So, how can I add the second SSD on my machine?
Thanks.

The service manual page 44 only shows one SATA HDD and one M.2/PCIe SSD. It sounds like you are saying that the 180w PSU doesn't have the required power leads to accommodate an additional SATA SSD?

The 3268 uses a tiny power supply. So adding a drive is not really an option. The motherboard only has 2 sata connections. You could add a sata drive to the optical bay with an adapter.

Not sure if the drive is 9.5mm or 12mm

@speedstep It is not true and additional SSD drive will not affect PSU capabilities. It is very easy to install second SSD - just need some DYI experience for that. So simply- to buy two cables from e-bay : T27G4 (connector to mini 6-pin power supply to SATA and 2-pin optical drive) and blue GVJ31 (both approximately for the £6) . Cut off from the newly bought T27G4 6-pin socket, cut off two (black and red) wires to optical drive and connect by the same colour pattern SATA 15 pin socket to existing Dell Vostro 3268 SATA 15-pin connector and blue cable with spare SATA port on the motherboard. That is all. Other stuff as setting up an additional new SSD drive with help of Minitooll Partition Wizard software (type name in Google search- it is free). Then, you`ll have two 2,5 " format SSD drives ( up to 2Tb each) and saved/kept in the system existing optical drive (no need to do anything instead). Optical drive is vital for the people who does have DVD-ROM disks with software unlike modern PC`s are not equipped with DVD drives (the reason I keep my Dell Vostro 3268 with maximum modern hardware upgrades).

And for the better clarification both mentioned above " blue GVJ31"
(one is SATA0 to SSD C:\ and second new SATA2 to SSD G:\)

And "cherry on the top" is NVMe M.2 2280 size drive (drive D:\ in my case), via the PCIe x1 slot adapter , next to nVIDIA Quadro P1000 4 mb graphics card
