Dell vostro 3750
Redoing this lappy for a friend, having problems tho, didn't come with a charger so bought a new 130w Dell charger, not recognised in the bios and not charging the battery, got a mate to bring his 17 inch Dell lappy up, charger was recognised but his battery is past its sell by date, so charger is fine......tried the usual removing within windows and restarting but it doesn't make any difference, just part stripped it, removed the CMOS battery, blasted the lappy (air compressor) put new cmos battery in rebuilt it but it's just the same, I don't want to go bald, but I'm pulling my hair out, any ideas anyone
Thanks joe

If you bought a genuine Dell AC adapter and it is "good".
Then,
1. battery is bad
or
2. DC jack board is bad
or
3. motherboard is bad
If the laptop runs without the battery and with just the AC adapter, the battery is bad.

Is the main battery is dead? Remove it and try using the adapter alone. The adapter should be a dell 90w to match the original. But then this is a 9 yr old model so it is not worth the money to buy a new battery or anything.

on F12 dell diagnostics battery health is 96% but charge is 0%, battery charge state is idle, ac adapter is unknown,
same as in the bios, but as stated earlier it is a new 130w dell charger part number DP/N OJU012, when i hover over the battery icon on the taskbar, it says plugged in not charging. lappy works fine on the charger but as my friend wants it to use for work it needs to be more mobile
thanks for your replies
