Thunderbolt 3 adapter not working M1 Mac Mini

I've just bought this adapter to connect a Thunderbolt 1 RAID to an M1 Mac Mini. Plugged it into the Thunderbolt 3 host port on the Mini and it simply isn't recognized at all in the system report - no device showing on the bus. Same on an Intel MacBook Pro. But if I plug it into a USB-C port (not Thunderbolt) it is recognized as a USB device. What exactly is happening here? Both machines on MacOS 12.0.1

This might be answered in a more timely fashion at the Apple forums here. This is a Dell PC forum.

If the adapter and RAID work fine with another Thunderbolt 3 device, then the issue might be specific to the M1 Mac Mini. Ensure that the Thunderbolt 3 port on the Mac Mini is working correctly by testing it with another Thunderbolt 3 device.

Check for any firmware or driver updates for the Thunderbolt 3 adapter. Sometimes, newer macOS updates can bring improved compatibility. If there are specific drivers for the adapter, make sure they are installed. If the problem persists, it might be worth reaching out to the manufacturer's support for assistance. They might have specific insights or solutions for using the adapter with an M1 Mac.
