Vostro 3590 compatible docking stations

Is the Vostro 3590 compatible with the Dell Thunderbolt Dock-WD19TBS?

It depends on what you have planned to connect.  Your system does not support Thunderbolt, so don't expect to drive a high resolution external monitor (your system is limited to 1920X1080), and don't expect to charge the system over USB (which your system does not support).

Unless you have plans to use the dock with a future system that's more feature-rich, you can spend half or less the cost of that dock and still end up with all the features your system can use.

Hi, I have a follow up question. My work has the thunderbolt dock available for me to use and I'm hoping to connect it to my existing laptop, Vostro 3590. I know it's not ideal, but can I use a usb-c female to usb-a male adapter to plug the dock into my laptop and get basic functionality (external monitor, keyboard, mouse)? The Vostro 3590 does not have a usb-c port. Will I run into any issues with the driver?

There's no mention of displayport alt mode on this model, so the default answer is no -- the only native video output the system supports is over HDMI.  Check the documentation for the dock to see if it supports displaylink -- if it does, you may be able to use it to output video over USB 3.1.  If it does not, you can use a USB 3 to displaylink adapter, but not through the dock.

Any other USB devices (keyboard, mouse, Ethernet, etc.) should still work fine without additional hardware purchase.
