Vostro 3700 battery not charging

My original Dell Battery stopped charging so I have purchased some new non-genuine batteries.  When installed the battery level is at 33% and is not charging with the AC adapter connected.  The Laptop works fine on just the AC or just the battery but the battery drains and does not charge. The battery indicator light on the laptop is not lit either.  I have updated the BIOS and can see the adapter is connected in there.  I have done all the disconnect and discharge and reconnect, remove the device driver and then update and remove battery and blow out the connectors as suggested on various forums but it seems the adapter to battery cable is only thing left to change from www.parts-people.com/index.php

As I can't really test this cable is there anything else that could be stopping it from charging.

All the best.

It's either the DC plug, DC jack -- or the mainboard -- that's bad.

Hi,
Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to uninstall/reinstall the battery driver from Device Manager.
- If it will not work, do a hard reboot unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button until the laptop shutdown completely.
- Boot it back up and observe if it will charge or not.
- If the same problem will persist, do run System Restore. Restore the laptop to an earlier date when it was working normally.
- Here's how to run System Restore: http:/windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows-10/windows-10-recovery-options
- If system restore will still not work another option would be to open the laptop and reseat the connection of the battery inside.
- Unplug then plug the cable that connects the battery to the motherboard and see if that will make any difference.

Thanks for the steps - I have done these and it is not charging so I will purchase the cable and see if that works.
