What does ASF2 Force Off mean?
Hi everyone. I have a Dell Vostro 5468 laptop. 2 days ago, i replaced the thermal paste for my laptop. It didn’t replace for 4 years.
The fixer said your fan is broken, change it on a short term. And yeah, he is right. Cause laptop is overheating. And sometimes, when I turn on the computer, it goes directly to the hardware test, and I get an error when the processor fan stopped. But he says it's okay to test separately. In addition, the device does not observe a self-shutdown event.
The day after changing the thermal paste, when I entered the BIOS menu, I saw the message "ASF2 Force Off". What does this mean? Could it indicate a serious problem? The battery's dead, I've been using it this way for 2 years. Could it have something to do with this? I wanted to ask because it's the first time I've seen it.
Please help me.

There are a number of causes for this issue. For a better rundown try this forum post. It is a rather lengthy thread so a bit of reading required. As per the forum posts it could very possibly be related to the dead battery as users with 60% battery life have seen this issue.

I experienced this issue with both an XPS 9570 and a Precision 5530 (more-or-less the same machine). Replacing the CMOS battery solved the issue for me – more details here.
