Accessing LUN directly on Backend Storage
Hello,
We are currently using Unity behind VPLEX. We are now being asked to remove VPLEX out of our environment. We have several hosts accessing VPLEX. What is the proper procedure in allowing the hosts access the Unity directly without affect the data is currently sitting on the Unity?
I'm thinking of the following but I feel like I'm missing something from the VPLEX side.
1. shutdown hosts
2. perform tear down (VV, device, extents)
3. unclaim storage
4. perform rezoning (host-to-unity), remove zoning of hosts to vplex
5. perform lun masking in unity for the hosts
what am i missing here?

Yes your steps are fine. VPLEX does not store any data in cache so the data is always consistent to the backend. Know that your host will see new WWN as it is not a unity wwn not a vplex wwn
