Customer Deployment of VxRail Now Available

On January 23, 2023, customer deployments of VxRail became available. Previously, customer "Standard" deployments required a Request for Product Qualification (RPQ).

So, what's available? Customers can now deploy a Normal 3 or more node vSAN cluster. 2-node vSAN clusters, vSAN Stretched clusters, and Dynamic node clusters, continue to require the assistance of Dell or a Dell Partner. 

Why deploy a VxRail as a customer? There are a variety of use cases:

1. Rapid deployment VxRail clusters leveraging the VxRail RESTful API directly or via an automation solution like Ansible. 
2. Deploy a VxRail at your convenience.
3. Reduce VxRail deployment costs.

Whatever the reason, before you deploy a VxRail, the first thing you need is the appropriate skillset, whether through prior experience, educational offerings, or a combination of the two, make sure you're ready!

From an education perspective, we offer a 3-day VxRail Installation and Implementation course, Id ES524CPX00074. This course can be taken Instructor Led or On-demand. The VxRail Installation and Implementation course counts toward the DCS-IE VxRail Certification Track, exam DES-6322. This course introduces you to the concepts, tools, resources, and deployment practice to help you get ready for a VxRail deployment. 

Unsurprisingly, SolVe online plays a large role and provides step-by-step instructions to guide you through the deployment process. Want to know more about SolVe, see my Better call SolVe post. The SolVe VxRail Installation procedure is used in concert with the VxRail Configuration Portal (Login required, pictured below), to provide the resources necessary for a deployment.

A VxRail deployment is greater than 90% preparation (I'm not being facetious), with the remainder of the time being the physical and logical build of the cluster. Thorough preparation helps lead to improved outcomes!
