VxRail Upgrade

Thank you for the clarification – but I honestly find it hard to accept that Dell's official position is:
There is no supported upgrade path from VxRail 7.0.550 – the most current 7.x release – to VxRail 8.x.

This essentially means that customers running the latest available 7.x release are completely blocked from upgrading and must now perform a full reinstallation to reach 8.x? That’s hard to justify in an enterprise environment.

Many of us rely on VxRail’s lifecycle automation and long-term planning for version upgrades. If the newest 7.x version (7.0.550) is already a dead end, this puts customers in a very difficult position – especially when older 7.x versions did have upgrade paths to 8.x.

Could you (or Dell) please clarify:

1. Why 7.0.550 was released without an upgrade path to 8.x?

2. If/when an official upgrade path will become available?

3. Whether this is a temporary limitation, or a deliberate design decision?

If you remember VmWare was spun off from Dell and was aquired by Broadcom in 2021. Since Broadcom purchased VmWare they made changes to VmWare code and upgrade paths. With version 8 of 8.x of VmWare Broadcom changed the way licensing and updates are installed. This was not a decision by Dell this was done by Broadcom. At this time there is not an upgrade path other what is listed in the link above that I posted above.

It looks like there is now an upgrade path?
