0x0000007E When installing XP?

I had to overhaul a laptop for a friend from work, it's an Inspiron 1300, and when I tried to install XP off the cd that came with her laptop, it gets to the bit where is says starting windows, and I get a stop message. It says;
STOP: 0x0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF952F0BF, 0XF99713208, 0XF997AF08)
PCI.SYS Address F952F0BF Base at F9528000 Datestamp 3B7D855E
I was able to install Windows 2000 on it just fine, which makes me think that there is something wrong with her cd.

Uber_geek A lot of times this is caused by trying to reinstall windows with sp1 disk that came with an older computer. The issue can be resolved by using a windows sp2 install disk. You can slipstream a sp2 disk using this program. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/Autostreamer.shtml . There are other programs out there also. google slipstream and you will find others. If you have a friend with a Dell reinstall disk of the same flavor as yours you should be able to use it to reinstall also.

When you say it gets to the "starting windows" do you mean at the beginning of Set Up or after windows has installed?
