100 % cpu usage

Question

since installing SP2 when i get to desk top i only have a few things runnimg where before cpu usage was at like 5 or ten is now pegged at 100% all the time no matter what .....if i uninstall SP2 it goes back to normal...whats the deal? please if anyone can help i would appreciate it spence

What processes are running? Check control /alt /delete to see if anything is running in the background. I had problems on my Dimension 8100 but this was not one of them. I doubt SP2 is running your processor at 100% it must be a programme.

I have exactly the same problem. New Dell Laptop, everything works fine. SP2 installed, 100% CPU usage.   I was never connected to the internet, so I'm sure that it cannot be any virus or trojan...   ???
