16 bit windows subsystem error message

Recently I received an error message while trying to open a non exp program although I had not had this problem in the past. The message is as follows: (16 bit Windows Subsystem), The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. cs; cf4aip;0111op;dfe6ed 08 0d, Choose "close" to terminate this application or Choose "ignore". I can choose either and the program will not open. I also have the same error message when trying to access my service tag number through Dell accessories. Can anyone help me out there?????????????????

The name of the program is Serif Pageplus 3.0. It's publishing program which  I got years ago and still use often. The manufacturer is Serif Corporation. I did a windows xp compatibility test along time ago and  had been using ever since until recently. I also have the same error message when trying to access my service tag number and also when I tried to load a new driver for my hp desk jet printer which leads me to believe that the software 1st mentioned would be irrelevent.

Steve, in addition to my previous message, I changed the read only attributes of the autoexec.nt file as described on the note on the 16bit_fix.htm page, rebooted and still have same problem.
