16 bit Windows Subsystem Error

Question

Whenever i try to install something of a CD to my computer I get the error C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT.  The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.  Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.     THis did not used to happen so i was going to do a system Restore hoping that would work but i always get an error with system restore saying it couldnt be completed....anyone know what i could do!?!
